How often do you wash your hair? It’s not a trick question. I have friends who wash their hair everyday and others who wash it once a week. It really depends on how greasy your hair gets, and how much you love your dry shampoo. I wash mine every third day. Anything longer than that, and we’re in the oily territory.
Now the thing with washing your hair that often is that is you go through a lot of shampoo. And shampoo, dear friends, is expensive. Yes, I know that you can buy drugstore brands, but trust me when I say this- that stuff is not good for your hair. Drugstore shampoos that make claims about shine, will in fact do just that, for about 2 months. BUT, after 2 months or so of using this shine shampoo, you are able to comb the residue left behind off the hair!
We had the pleasure of talking to one of the stylist, who works with exclusively with L’Oréal Professionnel, about the new Mythic Oil Souffle D’Or Shampoo and Conditioner and we asked him the basic questions that anyone who is spending a pretty penny on shampoo should ask.
The problem is buying expensive shampoo is how quickly we go through it. Right? Wrong!
How to make expensive shampoo last longer!
Turns out that most women wash their hair the wrong way:
o They load on tons of product (most on the crown of the head, forgetting the nape) trying to get the lather going. They end up using up their professional product in a week and wonder why they spend so much money on pro products.
o The way to wash your hair is to do 2 washes! The first wash, use a quarter sized amount of shampoo and really rub it in so all the oils get absorbed. There may not be tons of lather, but that’s okay. The key is to separate the hair into 2 pairs- front and back and wash each separately. The second wash, use even less shampoo and the shampoo will definitely lather up nicely and hair will be clean.
Why are expensive shampoos better than the drugstore one?
Most expensive shampoos like the the new L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Souffle D’Or Shampoo and Conditioner are sulfate free and paraben free, which means that there is no residue, only brilliant shine and clean and healthy hair.
The old adage is really true: you get what you pay for! Great tip on two washings! Thanks!
So true!
