Traveling for long periods of time while trying to look put together can be quite a challenge- especially when the urge to be comfortable overpowers you, and sweatpants/tights start looking like the best thing to put on. This is why having a stylish travel must haves list is so important!
We know it might be hard to think so, but there are quite a few easy ways to be comfortable, and still look like you care. All it takes it a bit of preparation and some careful packing to make sure that you’re never without your building blocks. We’ve put together our stylish travel must have list:
1.Pashmina
Invest in a colour, and material that you’re in love with. Not only is this the perfect accessory to add that extra bit of class to your look, but it doubles as a blanket when you get cold on the plain. Also, it’s great to have incase you’re in a Middle Eastern country, and want to be respectful of the local culture without having to pack a completely different wardrobe. Certainly win-win in our books.
2.Sneakers
We love a good sneaker ( the slip-on kind, like TOMS or Skechers)- not only is it perfect on the plane, but you can get a lot of wear out of it sightseeing as well. Look for something that has great arch support, and make sure you wear them in a bit before heading out on your trip.
3.Cross-body bag
No one wants to lug their giant tote bag around if they don’t need to. A cute cross-body adds to your look, and over all comfort by leaving your hands free to experience your surroundings.
4.Carry-all
We need a carry-on, so why not make it something stunning? We tend to look for one that has many compartments so we can keep from making a mess. It also needs to have easy access to all the important things.
5.Sunglasses
Great for hiding the bags under your eyes, and adding a bit of mystery so make sure you invest in a great pair http://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/blood-pressure/ from a professional. Besides, these are perfect for protecting your eyes from the harmful UVA/UVB rays. These are pretty much everyone’s stylish travel must haves list.
6.Great pair of jeans/yoga jeans
These jeans are like second skin, and only a step up from the traditional yoga pants. The fit, however, is pretty much the same, and can be easily dressed up or down with minimum effort.
7.Blazer
You never know when you’ll need a blazer. Packing a weather appropriate one is key- think linen for warmer weather, and wool for cooler weather.
8.Wedges
Just because you’re travelling doesn’t mean that you want to give up those extra few inches that your heels can provide. Enter the wedge-the sexiness of a heel, without the pain. Look for something that’s not heavy, and is raised a bit in the toe area to help alleviate the pressure on your toes.
9.A great dress
This could be your LBD or an amazing maxi dress, but having something in your arsenal that you can pull out goes a long way to up your style game on the road. Look for fabrics that don’t wrinkle easily, and try to stay away from anything that can get dirty really quickly- especially if you don’t have access to a laundromat. Finding the perfect one is certainly a requirement for every stylish travel must haves list.
10. A statement piece
When was the last time you thought of bringing a statement necklace or big earrings on a trip? Precisely- not only does a statement necklace instantly glam up any outfit, but it can give you that boost of confidence when you need it. We recommend always having a piece in your bag at all times!
11. Nail polish
Yes, this isn’t a necessity, but you have not idea, how far polish nails will go in terms of making you feel put together. We normally recommend getting shellac before a trip just in case you don’t have time to do your nails, but bringing your favourite colour for touchups never hurt anyone.
Love this list! One note of caution when it comes to footwear – if you are staying at a snobby, ritzy hotel, it’s best to own a pair of classy walking shoes and jacket for playing tourist. Wearing comfortable sneakers or walking shoes that look too North American in style can make you look like an undesirable. We learned this the hard way at a five star hotel we were staying at in London. Security kept thinking we were NOT staying there.
Totally agree- BUT it’s amazing how far a pair of black skinny jeans, and a pair of Toms can get you.
