Walking into the warm and toasty atmosphere of Hotel Ocho, I was greeted with smiling faces and glasses of bubbly. To my right, on a beautiful wooden hutch, sat light blue goodie bags and to my left was a wooden counter stocked with appetizers. Thanks to Harper Collins Canada, we spent our Monday evening gabbing about books, sipping champagne, lusting over Vocado Boutique’s Holiday Essentials, and munching on the most decadent chocolate chip cookies we’ve EVER tasted. We were there to celebrate Karen Swan’s new novel Christmas at Claridges - about Clem, the queen of the scene with an intense secret. A novel about a night when Clem goes a bit too far and everything goes wrong. I’ve yet to read Karen’s work but after hearing her delightful british accent and her humble disposition, I am really excited to start her latest novel. Oh, and did I mention that she has incredible style? The dress, the leggings, the chic boots, and her blown out blonde locks were tres fabulous — bold yet understated, sophisticated yet fun — the perfect author look in my books!
Speaking of books, back to them! HarperCollins has a long list of amazing books coming out this Holiday season. A book is one of the best gifts you can give (or receive) on Christmas morning and they’ve got a book for anyone on your shopping list. Thank you to everyone at HarperCollins for a lovely event! It really put me in the Christmas spirit (I’m writing this post with Christmas carols playing in the background).
