This week’s Darling is the ever so lovely, Anjali Handa. You may have seen her on twitter or at a Trance show near you.
Tell us a little about yourself and your site. (Job/blog/interests etc)
By day I work in corporate consulting as an Instructional Designer – I design soft-skill training programs for different corporations across the country. That’s how I pay the bills. On the side, I write a beauty and lifestyle blog called Rock That Look (www.rockthatlook.ca) where I post beauty reviews, outfits of the day, personal life updates and other totally random thoughts. I am also the Editor-in-Chief and Online Video Host for EDM TOR (www.edmtor.com), a media website dedicated to the dance music scene in Toronto – I write about parties, music and events and I interview DJs/artists that stop in our city. Lastly, when I can breathe, I run a home-based business with Arbonne Canada. Oh ya, I also run the Twitter account @TranceInTor (Trance in Toronto).
I am wearing:
It happens to be a Sunday today so I am quite causal. I am wearing a pair of TNA leggings with knee-high legwarmers from HUE. On top I am wearing a long, fitted cotton tank from PINK and a long zip-up hoodie from a random store in the Pickering Town Centre.
The most versatile item in my closet:
My sister tells me it’s “dated” but I the most versatile piece I own is a black cotton Wilfred dress I bought from Aritiza a few summers ago. It’s got a sexy low V-neck and a cute belt that wraps around the waist which makes it super flattering for us curvy girls. I’ve worn it casually with summer flip flops and have dressed up with hot pumps. I’ve worn it in the winter with boots and also by the pool as a bathing suit cover-up. This the most multifunctional piece I own.
Beauty must-haves…
I can’t stress enough the importance of good skin care. As a former makeup artist, the most common complaints I heard were all related to skin issues. That said, I love, love, love the Arbonne Re9 anti-aging set. This is luxury in a bottle and it’s so good for your skin. I’ve been getting so many compliments on my complexion since I started using the set, which makes it very hard to part with!
The other beauty item I can’t live without is my Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo. I call it “magic in a bottle” as it’s my secret to only washing my hair twice a week.
One thing every girl should have:
A vision board. Know what you want, believe you will get it…and don’t let ANYTHING get in your way.
What are you listening to right now:
I am a trance music fiend so there is always high energy dance music going on. Right now I am playing a podcast from one of my favourite DJ/Producers, John O’Callaghan. I’m playing his Subculture Podcast, Episode 73.
The one thing I can’t leave the house without:
My cell phone. I feel lost and disconnected without it.
Favorite place to eat in the city:
Easy Restaurant. I love brunching and I often find myself at Easy. They have amazing shakes, great coffee and the food is nothing short of fabulous.
Ideal Friday night plans:
Being so into dance music, I love a good party. My ideal Friday night would consist of an after-work “disco nap” followed by a big fat (solo) dance music party in my room as I get ready. I’d then head out with the EDM TOR video crew to interview a DJ and then spend the rest of the night at Toika Lounge where my friends at Ozmozis Productions host the best underground Trance parties in the city. Great music, great vibe and great friends – that’s Friday night perfection!
All time favorite book/movie:My favourite movie is Mean Girls.
My favourite book is “The Law of Attraction” by Esther Hicks. It was literally life-changing.
