We’re all about helping you plan that perfect getaway. Let’s face it, those can be hard to find. And if you’re in the market for the chance to get away to a small town, and stay right by the water, then La Malbaie is for you. We had the chance of heading there as part of our Chevrolet Cruze road trip and we well in love with the picturesque setting, and the close proximity to the casino.
With the stunning setting right by the water, it’s not hard to believe that it was one of the first resort towns in Canada. While the entire population of the town is 9000, it can accommodate a lot more as quite a few of the homes have been converted into bed and breakfasts.
La Malbaie is 5 hours away from Montreal by car, and this is one of those drives that’s worth it- and that’s not even counting the thai food truck in the nowhere, or finding hidden routes along the way. Yes, you can fly into La Malbaie’s tiny airport, but trust us, and just make the drive from Montreal. If you can get your hands on a Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel, and its 1000km+ to a tank of gas, then all the better. You read that right, you can drive 10-12 hours without having to get gas!
La Malbaie is the perfect companion city if you’re planning a roadtrip to Montreal or even Moncton. The drive there is stunning, and worth every pit stops.

Where to Stay in La Malbaie:

This is the hotel for a getaway. The setting is picturesque, and the hotel is right away from a casino. If you’re looking for romance, this where you need to head.

Where to Eat in La Malbaie:

This is the steak place. No, really- ask any of the locals where to eat, and they will point to La Boheme.
Side note: Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu serves are really great breakfast, too.

Located right in front of the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, and steps away from numerous bed and breakfasts, the Casino can offers hours of entertainment.

If outdoor activities are your thing, then you will want head for a 9 or 18 hole.
